Studio Policies
Here are the general policies that apply to all students taking lessons under us.
General Policies
Bowed Strings' Studio Policies are stated below. Students who decide to begin violin and cello lessons with us will have to be agreeable with all of the stated policies.
Attending Lessons
Consistency
Bowed Strings runs by a monthly cycle with four lessons in each month. Students who learn under Bowed Strings are expected to attend lessons weekly. For students who do not attend class regularly or do not practice the instrument, we reserve the right to terminate your lessons and give your time slot up to other students.

Peak Hour Time Slots - Students taking a slot on Sundays and Saturdays
Our peak time slots are on Saturdays and Sundays. Students taking this time slot are expected to attend class weekly. If student has any other commitments and is unable to attend class weekly, we reserve the right to give up your peak time slot to other students who are able to attend class weekly on these 2 days.

Punctuality
Punctuality
Students are to be punctual for all lessons with Bowed Strings. We will not extend the class if student is late for lessons. However, if lateness is due to an emergency matter (such as vehicle breakdown or accident), we will be easy on it.
We do not accept excuses or students who are late for every lesson, as it shows no respect for learning the instrument and the teacher. We will reserve the right to terminate lessons with such students.
Cancellation of Classes & No Show-ups
Last Minute Cancellations (Less than 12 hours) Result in Lessons Being Forfeited
Last-minute cancellations (less than 12 hours before class) will result in the lesson being forfeited with no refund or make-up lesson provided. This will be subjected to a case-by-case review.

Maximum of 1 Class Cancellations a Month
Students are only allowed to cancel a maximum of 1 class a month. Unless student is travelling overseas or has school-based activities, subject to discussion. This is to ensure continued progress in classes.

Absent for Class Without Any Notice
Students who do not show up for class without providing any notice will result in the lesson being forfeited immediately, unless this is due to emergency matters such as a traffic accident.
Parental Accompaniment
For Private Lessons: Parents with Children aged 7 years old and under
Parents are highly encouraged to sit in the classroom to follow through their child's learning progress especially for children aged 4 to 7 years old.

Make-up Lessons
For Private Lessons: Completion of Make-Up Lessons within the Same Month
All four lessons of each cycle have to be completed within the same month and make-up lessons are to be arranged to be completed within the same month. If it is difficult to fix another time slot, the make-up lesson will be carried over to an upcoming month with a 5th week.

For Pair/Group Lessons: No make-up lessons
For pair or group lessons, there will be no make-up lessons provided for lessons missed. Class will be forfeited, unless a valid MC is provided when student is sick.
Payment of Fees for Classes & Trial Classes
Payment for Classes
Fee Payment runs by a monthly cycle and payment is to be made before the first lesson of each month via bank transfer or cash. Upon payment, fees are not refundable.
Payment for Trial Class
